Week 17: June 16 - 18

This week is the final exam week for those of you who have not yet done it. Please be on time or a little early. Also, please email me any outstanding documents [ICEE tickets, proof of sickness for missing a class, etc.], by Thursday noon.

The game has ended and the winners are:

The top 3 students will get an additional 5% on their final grade, #4-6 an additional 4%, and #7 - 10 an extra 3%. Well-done!

Week 16: June 9 - 11

We still have a class this week, so you need to come. In the first hour, we will be doing some of the unfinished material posted on Week 13. In the second hour, we will start the final exams for those students who have been chosen. Anyone who wasn't chosen to do the final on Week 16 will be assigned a time to come on Week 17.

The final covers everything posted on the blog or was done in class. It consists of two students discussing random questions. The questions deal with general questions ['What's a good investment for the future?'] and not specific details from the articles ['How much did the S&P 500 rise by last year?]. I won't test vocabulary except for some very essential words [stock, bond, dividend, P/E Ratio, Present Value, opportunity cost, capital gain, interest, T-bill/T-bond].

Week 15: June 2 - 4

We will finish Presentation II, so if you haven't presented yet, be ready. If there is extra time, we will finish some of the articles from Week 13.

The larger classes will start the final exams in Week 16, so I will be assigning exam times as well.

I don't think we will finish all the material in this week's drive folder, but we will do it by the final week.

Weeks 8 & 9: April 14 - 23

We will be doing Presentation I during these two weeks. You don't need to move the chairs. You need to email me the PowerPoint before class on Week 8. PPT files arriving after the start of class will be considered late and will lose 10%. Even if you don't present that day [or even if you don't come to class] the PPT is due.

Please include the following information with the PPT file:

Your English Name, The day of your class [Tues/Wed/Th] and the period of the class [12 or 34]. So if you are David and your class is Wed 8:10-10:00 you would write:

David Wed 12

No other information is needed.

Weeks 6 & 7: March 31 - April 9

The spring break will give you time to prepare for Presentation I. Remember, the PPT is due before class on Week 8. Late PPTs will lose 10% on the Pres. I score.

Also, consider volunteering for the ICEE Week [Week 12] Extended Speech event. Any student in my BEN 204 Business English can join and anyone who gives a speech will receive an extra 5% on the final grade of the Business English final grade.
